I'm not certain if this is an appropriate image for Man & Nature, but as a longtime sailor I have always considered sailing craft one of the more intimate interfaces between man and the natural world, so here it is.

The subject is the bow sprit detail of the Bounty taken in very poor light under a leaden sky. I intentionally underexposed the image and then spent considerable time dodging to bring out specific details. I think the final result presents an unusual feel and drama.

I would really like to have your feedback on this one, as I am fascinated by the technique and the result.

It is definitely appropriate and a great image that does convey a great mood and sense of the Sea in a timeless way. I thinkk it could be less dark on the right and left edges but super at any rate.

The sky looks threatening, the Bounty seems ready to sail and challenge the sea ....I really like the composition and the atmosphere of this shot.
