Water in the Desert

This scene contains Nevada's most valuable and scarce resource in all its forms, solid, liquid and vapor. The contrast between the colors of the dry land and the water is also very characteristic of this region.

That water is such a beautiful blue, and so vibrant. It's gorgeous. It almost makes everything above it seem kind of bland by comparison, despite that great light hitting the distant hills. Have you considered a pano crop, removing that upper layer of cloud?

Great shot, Russell. The contrasty light looks amazing. Going for an even more panoramic crop will defintely work - but I like it as it is as well. I would only take care of the somewhat obvious dark vignetting in the upper corners and maybe remove it or even it out a little.

As pretty aas the water is I am really drawn to the beautiful warm light and texture on the midground hills. I think a pano would be nice but there is something compelling about that cloud in the upper left, I like it as is.

Beautiful use of layers to tell a story. The light is magnificent.

This one is a beauty...I love the quality of light and various textures in the different layers.

Wonderful contrasts here as you mention. I could see cropping sky between the upper and lower clouds and going even more pano with this.

Beautiful color and light. I like the layering, and agree with the pano crop.
