I was out at our local wetlands preseve last evening when I saw this beaver swimming around and making very noisy dives under water. I suspose he was fishing? Comments welcome.

Great light and low angle, Walt. I keep wishing to see more of the beaver though.

Walt,

Great light. I'm always confounded with how to compose swimming beavers, just the head here works, but I think I would want to have a bit more room for the virtual body.

More importantly, the beaver was probably accessing a food cache or underwater plants, they are strictly vegetarians.

Nice image, maybe he is a catch and release fisher beaver! Thanks for sharing a neat photo.

Hi Walt,

Nice shot of a very interesting mammal. I like the up-tilted nose and the overall colour palette works well for me. I think the suggestion of including a little more room on the right for the "virtual" body (and the ripples) is a good one. I'm wondering if cropping a little of the background (to a slightly more pano aspect ratio) might also strengthen the image.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

The golden reflections on the water are a key element of this image. That said, however, I agree that taking a little of of the background at the top (which is not contributing too much to the overall impact) would strengthen the image. I like the idea of trying to get some more of the blue tinged wake in the frame.
