Silent Spring
by Rui Vieira
A few days ago when i went to this shoreline to shoot sunset i saw these flowers that caught my attention. i can say that it was my first Spring feeling of 2010. Shot taken at sunset on the south coast of São Jorge island - Azores.
Canon 5D2, Canon 17-40, 0.9NDG
All C&C are very welcome.

Some thoughts. I might add just a little more color to the sky to balance for the flowers a bit. The magentas in the flowers look a little strong which result in loss of contrast there. Maybe you can bring some of it back. Finally the web sharpening looks uneven somehow with the flowers being very strong sharpened and the rocks/sky being quite soft. But maybe that's a result of DOF.
Aside from all my nit-picking - great shot.
I'm surprised nobody has commented on the title. I wouldn't expect folks outside the US to know this, but "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson is one of the foremost works of environmental non-fiction here . . . it launched a backlash against DDT a few decades ago and helped make environmentalism a mainstream thing. A wonderful book, but probably not quite the same sentiments you had in mind in choosing a title!
