Tulip with a Bee

by Chad Delany

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted April 14, 201073 views3 comments
I wasn't sure where to post this image. I think this is the right gallery. I made it out to the Tulip Festival in Woodburn, Oregon this last Friday. It was nice once it stopped raining.

Nikon D700
Nikon 105mm f/2.8G AF-S VR IF-ED Macro Lens at f/3.2 aperture.

Any and all critiques and suggestions are very welcome.
Cheers,
Chad

I think it might work better cropped down, but then looking at the larger image, the entire image seems quite soft.

Hey Chad, I would agree with Bob on cropping the top down, and I would clone out the yellow blob as it tend to pull your eye away from the main subject, the flower and bee.

Chad, I hate to sound too critical on this one, but it looks very soft (out of focus). I like your subject and the idea though. I think your choice of aperature was the downfall here. I would think to make this shot work an aperature closer to f13 or 16 would have given you a better chance of getting at least the bee in focus. Your plane of focus is so thin at 3.2 that all odds are stacked against you. Keep shooting as you obviously have a good eye.
