Went out to the Hill Country yesterday and was awed by the bluebonnet display especially. We've lived here 25 years and this is the best wildflower spring I can remember. There were a few other supporting actors who deserved a look too. Found this poppy in what must have been a 20-30 acre field of bonnets. Had to shoot this wide open whether I wanted or not due to strong winds coming up the hillside behind this lone prickly poppy. Thank goodness for digital capture which allowed me to shoot over 20 attempts to get a happy ending. Anything at an SS slower than 1/2500 was unacceptably soft from the motion blur. I had a few keepers at ISO 800 @ 1/5000 but did not like the BG noise. Auto focus was absolutely out of the question. I finally got a tiny respite and got a one off ISO 400 shot to work. All comments welcome.>=))>

11 commentsThe wide open shot has really paid off in producing this lovely mottled blue/green and white BG like an impressionist painting. The lone poppy pops out of the BG complemented by bluebonnets in the foreground. Excellent composition.
