This gal quit pecking long enough to check me out as I moved closer. Hoping the colors are ok on this one...I processed it on my desktop instead of the laptop.

50d, 500mm w/1.4, Iso 400, 1/500, F4 FF Late afternoon light. Please see LARGER version, too.

Beautiful Sharon. If the colors were any better she'd fly.

Beautiful image of one of my favorite wp's, Sharon. Great detail, color and comp. The only very minor negative comment I could make is that the perfect pose seems almost contrived and a slight head turn toward the viewer would make it feel more real to me. I realize that might negate the nice highlight in the eye though so this is probably the better comp.

This is wonderful Sharon! Excellent details and composition. The bird really pops out of the smooth background. The colors look good to me, maybe a little on the cool side but the bird is on the shaded side of the perch so that's to be expected.
Well done. :toast:

Superb, Sharon! Classic woodpecker pose. Love the simplicity of the image and its elements. Very sharp - especially the larger version.

Really nice Sharon. Nice colors and BG. Tack sharp bird and what I like most is the great look at the bird's foot gripping the snag. Nicely done.

The colors, detail and background are excellent. I have been trying to get a good shot of these beauties for a long time without success. To be envied!

Excellent shot. Fine pose, perch and BG. One of the better RBWP I have seen here. If this was my shot I would warm it up just a little bit but thats just a personal choice. :toast:
