Blooming

This is a shot of some of the blooms from the Cherry Blossom festival in Washington DC. These trees line the tidal basin, and are in full bloom now. This was a bit of a grab shot, so I didn't notice the broken branch at the time; But I like it anyway. Is the DOF enough? Does it look OK vertically? (It was horizontal originally...)

Thanks for looking!

David: I think this is wonderful as is. I can't see shooting this scene other than vertical unless there was something really compelling on either side. The BG is the perfect complement and the DOF on the blossoms is just about perfect for my tastes. I'm not sure I would have commented on the broken branch if you hadn't mentioned it but I don't think it detracts all that much. That particular branch would be easy to clone and since there are no blossoms attached to it anywhere I guess it could go away You might try a repost and see what others think. If you do I would eliminate it below the blossoms as well. All in all, 2 thumbs up! >=))>

Perfect background and dof on the flowers. Very spring-like. The broken branch doesn't bother me :toast:

Looks good to me David. Vertical comp, DOF, color, high key BG, all combining for a very compelling image. The broken branch is fine as is, although I can see this without it also. I've lived my whole life within a couple hours of our nation's capital, yet I've never seen the cherry trees in flower. Maybe I'll change that some day.

Very nice and delicate, a very... springy picture, quite paradigmatic of this time of year...

Love the high key bg David and your composition is very good IMO. Vertical looks very good to me and I think the DOF is pretty much perfect. I would clone out the broken branch per Bill's directions. This is beautiful in very other respect - at least for my tastes.
