A very good start to my April sessions with Charlie! This is a Lifer for me! Light was a little harsher than we'd like, but a Lifer.......!

1D Mk IV, 500mm +1.4X, ISO 800, tripod, afternoon light, manual flash fill -1/16. Laptop processed.

Many thanks for looking: C & C please.

Could use some global brightening but it's a great shot with wonderful lines and open bill/tongue

You handled the harsh light very well, KC, I'd never have guessed it. A beautiful singing pose and excellent detail. :toast:

Luke, many thanks. I've had "problems" before with my laptop being too bright with the power cord hooked up, thus rendering the final image a bit dark. If others see that it needs a bit of brightening on their calibrated monitors, please do let me know. Thanks in advance!

Great pose and detail KC - what a way to get a tick. I agree with Luke that it could be lightened a fraction.

cheers

Kwan, of the two images, I prefer the brightness on your repost the best. Great pose, open bill, setting, sharpness and details. I especially appreciate and enjoy the little bit of tongue that is showing. Huge congrats on another lifer!

Hope that you and Charlie have a great time birding together.

I dunno, first they beat us at hockey and now they're down here getting all of our birds. Just perfect, Kwan. The light looks pretty good actually. I think the brighter repost is an improvement. Let's see what else we can find! :toast: :toast:

Great repost KC. The brightness makes a huge different IMO. What a great pose, perch, and BG. Very well done on a tough species.

Hey Kwan, This is awesome! I agree it needed a bit more brightening (BTW, I have exatly the same issue when I process on my laptop, so I always brighten a little more on my laptop when using it and pay even more attention to the histogram). The re-post is terrific!!! Great work as usual :toast:

Just excellent Kwan! Esp the repost. I fell in love with these birds decades ago when I first heard their distinctive song on southern Utah camping trips but I've yet to get a decent image of one. This one inspires me.
