A buttercup

In astronomy the term "guest star" refers to a star which has suddenly appeared visible in the place where no star had previously been observed and becomes invisible again after some time. The term is a literal translation from ancient Chinese astronomical records. - Wikipedia

Nice flower and good detail - but a pretty ragged specimen!
I've found it a good idea to search for the perfet flower, if I'm going to ret a macro shot. Every defect will be magnified, otherwise.

I don't look for perfection in nature, Sandy. Nor do I think that signs of aging are defects, no matter what they may make me think or feel. I do look for beauty, however, and resonance, wonder and meaning. I look for life. And I don't see much life in the illusion of perfection.

Charles: You have a style of making the imperfect compelling and while it may not be the finest portraiture it does produce effective images. I'll have to admit that it took me a while to look at your images without the lens and filter of convention but once I did I find your approach novel and refreshing. Good eye on this one and a fine presentation even down to your choice of framing. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

Charles, I like the color, lighting, and detail. A bit worn, yes. Nothing to offer, no way! Nice separation from the BG also.

Love the light, the subject and the use of negative space in this one.
