I was on the Isle of Mull on the west coast of Scotland last week and came across this smelly article. I could smell him long before I could see him. They live on the shore ,ine and up the steep slopes, they feed on seaweed.

Nice shot, you are so right about the smell of a male goat! IMHO it has a bit of a magenta cast to it.

Good capture! Looks as if it has been fighting a lot!

What a grisly character! Nice fur detail, eyes, and face, but a lot of noise.
Is the horn broken off, or just at an angle where we can't see the upper part?
If possible, I'd suggest straigtening hi up a bit, so the eyes are level.

Great shot!

I haven't smelled (smelt!) an old goat, but I reckon this attitude sort of shows what I might expect.

I like the subject and the framing, but there is a lot of digital weirdness going on here - some sort of anti-halo or something.

Pete D. is a bit of an old goat himself - I'm wondering if people smell me from afar....

Hi Ron,

The goats probably think the same thing about us (about how we smell)! I like the expression on the goat's face and how you caught it mid-chew. I think the image would work slightly better for me if there was a little more room at the bottom and slightly less on top. I like the clean background, tho' on my monitor it also has the magenta cast that John mentioned and in the larger version there's quite a bit of noise in the background. I get the feeling from the overall look of the image that this is a quite a large crop (and the effects are showing on the image quality).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Haha, you made me laugh Ron, both with your image and with your write-up about this 'smelly article' . I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said. Thanks for sharing and making us laugh.

This guy could be the main character in the old childrens' story "Three Billy Goats Gruff." He has lots of attitude and I lke the expression of the open mouth and bedraggled hair. He is nicely composed in the frame.
