Beautiful pose w/ raised crest. I like the perch and BG. Sharp details. I might desat. the blues a tiny bit and run another round of sharpening on the face if it were mine for web presentation. Very nice to get the tail included.

Thanks folks. I toned down the blue a little and did a little selective sharpening on the head. I think it looks a little better.

The repost is the better image. I really like the shot. There is a request for recommendation for a telephoto lens in the Bird Photography Forum. The Sigma 150-500 is mentioned. I use this lens also and left my comments. Possibly you could add yours regarding this lens.

thanks for posting this shot.

Wonderful pose and head turn, the Jays colors really standout against the OOF BG!

Neat shot, and some great color. I'd also sharpen the head a bit more. The bg seems to have some sharpening artifacts on the large version. Anyway, well done!

The repost looks better Clayton, nice head turn, perch and bg. I think your focus point was on the back and you needed to stop down some to get the whole bird in sharp focus. :toast:

Clayton,

I really enjoy the pose you caught the jay in, it shows off the wonderful colors & patterns of the back & tail. I like the background and the interesting textures of the branch it is perched on too. I prefer the repost as far as the color goes, but still might add a little more sharpening to the head. F8 might have gotten the whole bird sharp, though your shutter speed would have dropped.
