Blackcap Chickadee

One more shot taking at the time I shot the Titmouse with ice.
The berries on the left are out of focus because of the angle of the branch that bothers me cause the bird is looking in that direction.
I thought about cloning out the branch on the bottom but I think it helps hold the bird into the frame. I like how he or she is puffed out trying to keep warm and the angle of the head.
Cropped some off the right to place the bird a little off center.
Some PS work

Joe,

The pose of the chickadee is endearing and the color combination is very nice too with the red berries. The branch & berries being OOF on the left side of the frame aren't all that bothersome to me.

You may have just forgotten them but posting your techs would help us to give you more thorough critiques. Nice details and a beautiful look at the chickadee's eye.

Wahoo! what a Gorgeous shot! You captured some good feather detail, and that head turn is really nice. The berries and the clean background really bring this shot all together. Excellent job. :toast: :toast:

Excellent as posted. I would not clone out anything here, everything seems to work together. The berries being oof is not a issue. Very nice photo.

Very clean image and I like the way the berries really stand out against the grey background.

I like the gray background which accentuates the detail and color of the bird and berries, I think you found the perfect dof. It's obvious that this is an excellent comp. :toast:

Beautiful, Joe. A gorgeous composition and pose. If I have a nit, it looks as if the plumage might be just a tiny bit oversharpened. Excellent! :toast: :toast:

The contrast between the chickadee and berries is lovely, and the pose you've captured is excellent. Without your shooting specs, it's had to offer much criticism; there's some pixellation in the bird's back. I see that in my shots when I oversharpen, but it might be something else here. A minor nit on a terrific capture.

Lovely image especially the unusual and pleasing pose, eye contact, setting with red accents and neutral smooth background.

Wonderful shot! The OOF berries don't bother me at all. They give a perfect balance with the subject.

Congrats

Quite a unique shot Joe, esp the pose of the bird and your composition. Nicely done. I wouldn't clone the branch at bottom.

Love the over-the-shoulder, almost teasing, pose of the bird, the beautiful definition of feathers, nice catchlight, the angle... everything just works, here. Fab shot.
