I shot this image with fuji provia during a fun kayaking event in Blue Hill, Maine. There's a great little spot where the tide is forced through a narrow inlet/outlet and forms this cool hydraulic. Kayakers from all over come to surf this big wave that forms. To think I had to burn through several rolls of film while attempting to catch this affect, slow shutter speed with slight pan for some sharpness on the kayaker. It would have been way easier and less expensive to do this with my current arsenal of digital gear. But way less fun to get your film back from the lab...like xmas every time

EOS 3, 100-400L, provia

The water in this is just perfect IMO Kurt, well done! I just said that same thing to my friend, only about coming home after shooting a bunch of digitals images--like opening Christmas presents. Sometimes you think you now what you're getting, but end up with either another necktie or a beautiful gold watch!

I like the motion you've captured here. I do wish the kayaker was a bit lower in the frame though.

Sensational action shot, Kurt! Love the sense of motion; the speed is conveyed really well.
Ah, the good 'ol film days. Yep, reels of film for a few keepers, but like you said, it was suspenseful in a fun way to wait to see how they came out.

This is way cool. Love the smooth textures in the water contrasting with the kayak.

Wonderfully composed and you caught the wave action so well.

Well laid out Kurt. I like the tones and the placement of the kayaker. The lighter ridge above and sweeping dark lines below bring you right into the action.

You know, its still an option to shoot film
