Patagonia Warm-Up

Just got back from 15 days of backcountry trekking in Los Glacieres National Park in Patagonia, Argentina. Thought I'd warm everyone up to a series of Patagonia images with one of my least interesting pics from the trip. Nothing too exciting here, just a classic shot of Fitz Roy -- lots of pretty scenery and light, but nothing too interesting in terms of comp and artistic expression. As I said, this is meant to be a warm-up! Think of it as the opening act before the band you came to see starts to play . . .

Still time to sign up for my upcoming NPN online class Creating Wow! Images - Six Steps to Making Great Nature Photographs! We start April 1st, but we'll accept "late registrations" for folks signing up during the first week of the course.

If this is your warm-up, I can't wait to see what's coming. This really is beautiful, Ian.

welcome back Ian. Pretty good for a warm up.

How was the trip? I heard you were all left alone by Martin - I hope you enjoyed it. Looks like you caught some serious sunsets - but will look fwd to see all your images. If I am not mistaken, this is probably first time I am seeing something from you that's not shot in the US. Excited... :toast:

Warm up, huh? I can't wait to see the real deal. This is super, love the luminance of the peaks, and beautiful clouds.

This is stunning, you got some incredible light and atmosphere! I'm so jealous, this is high on my list of places to photograph, and you captured it beautifully. I particularly like the FG layer being completely black, I think it adds impact to the image. :toast:

I'm pretty sure that getting light like that there is rather, umm, rare... so I wouldn't pass this off as boring, plus, it's frickin' beautiful! You better live up to your word with the main act

I'm warm, I'm warm! And so is that mountian, even with the snow. Wonderful light makes the clouds a fitting frame for the mountains, and the silhouette base makes it even more dramatic.
Opening Act? Reminds me of when I saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds (with Jimmie Vaughan then) open for Bob Seger. I wondered how anyone could top the opening act, but knew that something great was coming. I'll be tuning in this week!

Yeah, not very exciting, except for that stunning light illuminating one the most photogenic peaks in the whole world. And some dynamic clouds to go with it... Superb in every way, Ian! Can't wait to see the others. :toast:

Amazing. I'd be happy with this, even after 15 days, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what else you have in store for us.
