Peninsula in Green

This image was taken last fall in Kananaskis country in Alberta. The glacier green of the lake was intensified by the overcast conditions of the sky. Thanks for taking the time to stop in for a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

Beautiful country Mark and I like the way the shoreline snakes around. The sky isn't aiding the photo any, but it is what it is. I love the clarity of the water.

Sure is green! I like the color effect and the curves of the water. Did you try to use a shadow/highlights mask on the sky?

Hi Ed... No I didn't use anything to changes or alter the sky. I have a few other images that I took at the same time...same deep green water but more sky in those images. I'm not a big photoshop user when it comes to cloning out or changing whole areas of the image and in all honesty I suppose I'm a bit of a purist with my images in that I might do a little contrast, saturation and sharpening as pointed out by Darwins instructions but for the most part I try to make the best of the shot when I'm there and be as happy as I can with the outcome. The weather is what it is and I do my best to work around it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if there is too much alteration with photoshop I feel it changes from photography to artwork. This really is an awesome site and I'm learning lots everytime I visit and scan thru all of the images. Thanks for the comments I do appreciate all of them.

Beautiful color of the lake and the repeating lines of the shoreline. I think it could use a bit more web sharpening to bring out more detail.

I think the composition is very nice. The greens are rich and there is a sprinking of reddish tones to complement them.

Since you are trying to keep your post processing to a minimum, I'd say you did the best you could in limiting the amount of sky. You could crop from the top to eliminate the sky, but I'm glad you didn't. The distant mountain adds to the depth of the image. A circular polarizer might have helped lessen the bright sky reflected in the water. Still a really nice photo and you have a personal memory of a beautiful place.

Love the curves of the shoreline and that green of the water is beautiful; it plays nicely against the greens of the trees and the warm tones of the shoreline. Well done.

I really like the curves of the shore line and the colors in the driftwood on the beaches. The sky does not do much for the photo but the distant mountain is very good. If you could just bring that sky and its reflection down a bit it would help.
