Black-winged Stilt
by Simon Bennett
Black-winged Stilt photographed in NE Victoria. It was quite bright so had to undexpose a bit to get the whites.
Canon 7D, Ef500 f/4 + 1.4x, tripod flat on the ground, kwik-camo, ISO400, 1/2000, f/10, ec -1, cropped for composition and to remove tilt. Neat Image NR applied to background.

Your great low angle, the way it makes the bird stand out so well and the effect that being that low has on the water is wonderful. Love the pose of the stilt, the one raised raised foot with the water droplets and that you left the one piece of thin vegetation in the image, I think it adds a touch of whimsy and certianly a natural feel to the image.
You have some bright whites, but I think reducing those might cause more issues than just leaving them alone. Love the water colors and the beautiful eye of this species.
cheers

Outstanding! I like the low perspective, the lines of the shot with the outstretched leg/foot, and the dark blue BG for the B&W bird.
