Frozen Dream #500

My 500th ESS post! :jump:
One more from Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. The ice patterns at Dream lake definitely start looking repetitive after you've stared at them for 20 minutes or so, but i thought this one section of ice was different than the others, it looked more otherworldly and had more dimensions to it with the submerged rocks and various reflections. If you saw my first ice post ("World Without Limits") id be curious which you prefer.

Geez Louise! I am sooo jealous of these shots you got here...very very very cool! :toast: I cant decide...I think I like this one better, although the other one had more bubbles which looked like star trails.

I like this one even better than the last one Stan! This is fantastic, the layering in this one is really interesting. Beautiful work!

This is very cool. It has a lot of depth to it. I'd love to see a print of it one day.

Both are great, but this is the best of the two IMO. There is both a sense of motion and real 3-D-ness, if you know what I mean. Gorgeous!

Amazing image, Stan. Has a 3D look on my monitor and that makes it really nice to look at. At first I thought this was my favorite of the two, but went back and looked and now it is close as to which one I like best. As nice as this is I'm leaning towards "World Without Limits" Great Stuff!

This one does have a very 3D feel and its a bit different than most of the other shots I've seen like it. Great work.

The best I've seen Stan. It looks like I can see some reflection in the ice of the landscape or is that my imagination?

I like this one better. It looks like what the space time continuum must look like. Great color and depth in this one as well. A very cool series all around with these ice patterns.

The first one is really good. The density and amount of bubbles in it, is what I really like. So to say it is an easy decision for me to like this one better, is something. The vails in it add so much dimension. Really nice!

Phenomenal Stan. Love the abstract , other-worldly forms in the ice and the beautiful variations in blue tones. Looks like what my imagination would think a space-time distortion looks like. Has tremendous depth. Think I prefer this one over the previous one due to the more abstract quality. Superb work.

Thanks! Dean--you're not imagining things, the brown areas are submerged rocks that are encased in the ice a foot or so below the surface, the blue is reflecting blue sky at 8:30 am. and there very well may be some hints of the surrounding trees in there too.

The freaky thing is that, due im assuming to the thickness of my glasses or the coating on the lenses, i see this 2D image literally in 3D with my glasses on! Ive noticed this with .gifs before, but this is the first time ive seen it with a jpeg! Unless its some kind of freaky flashback!

My gosh, Stan! How intriguing this is! Gorgeous and abstract looking, quite phenomenal! I don't think I saw the other one, so can't compare, but this is sure a winner!

Stan,

This is one fantastic natural Ice abstract! The shapes and patterns - as random as they could be, all seem to fit together perfectly, like with a purpose or something. There is also a "flow" to this that comes from the small specs of snow/ice on the surface that seem to me like they're in motion. The color, contrast and detail are all amazing - I love this Stan.

And congrats for your 500th - but I'll reserve a big celebration for your 10,000th comment, which is just around the corner! Thanks for continued contributions!

On another post you prepared us for a poor image...but this is really remarkable. I love it Stan...very nice abstract indeed. I love the spacial ambiguity that adds to the already abstract subject. Lovely.

Way cool, Stan. Print them both and hang them as companion pieces. As far as which one I prefer I do not think I can decide; both are exceptional..

Hey Stan,
Cool patterns for sure and the mixed air bubbles make the comp better. I might prefer your last post over this. This seems a bit/or less crisp than the previous. Needless to say they are both strong images.

Stan, this is definitely one of the most unique ice abstracts I have seen, the patterns are very otherwordly!. This one is my favourite of all the ones you got this last trip!.

I like this one better Stan. Although there are less bubbles, it feels more "cosmic" (if that makes any sense) like a time warp or something you would see on a Star Trek episode. Anyway, both are great abstracts.

Wow, even more impressive than the other one! I like it more because the shapes are a bit simpler so the communication is more direct and effective. Very strong!

Stan,
FANTASITIC! I like 'em both. This one grabs me more from a distance, and would probably be the stronger one presented in a smaller format. "World Without Limits" doesn't have the larger "motion" of this one, but the fine details up close keep me from looking at anything else for a long time. Presented large, the earlier one would be my choice.
Congrats on 500.

Like this one better Stan. The other is neat but this conveys the ice and lake and has a serenity to it while the other is much more frenetic and full of movement, although my brain knows it's frozen. Or is it my brai is just frozen. Oh well fine image as always.
