Boy photographs Anhinga

This young boy uses a cell phone camera to photograph an Anhinga as it dries it's wings alongside the water in Shark Valley National Park in the Florida Everglades. This is a natural setting, not a zoo, but with the frequency of visitors to the park, the birds and 'gators seem comfortable with the humans getting close. I like this photo because of the interaction between the boy and the "boyd". The moment lasted about three seconds. Photographed 3/6/2010. Camera: Canon 1D MkII, 70-200mm f2/8 lens, ISO 400, 1/640th @f/8.

Tom,
I have not visited NPN in a while, so I am late seeing this. I think it's a wonderful photo. While it's not the kind of picture we usually see on NPN, I hope more people submit pictures of kids enjoying nature.

P.S. Images in the Man & Nature Gallery usually don't get too many comments, so don't be discouraged. I also think the lack of comments for this image is partly due to the fact that your stats show you have not made the effort to comment on other images. Don't be shy -- we are all interested in the opinions of other people.
