It is alittle soft, but considering you were shooting into the sun you have good detail in the shadow area. Thanks for sharing.

I like back/side lighting and here the tail really takes on a nice glow owing to the light direction. I'm left wishing the squirrel had helped you a little more by looking up and, in an ideal world, more towards the left side of the frame to give you more of a side-view of the head (but little you could do about this). The background is thrown nicely out of focus and is definitely NOT distracting!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

The gentle "S" curve of his tail and alert posture make this a pleasing capture. I like you are working with the side lighting and think you handled that quite well. The shadow exposure looks good to my eye. I agree with Brad that the background is a positive! Composition might have been stronger with him slightly to the right in the frame, and focus looks soft. You somehow managed to get that all-important catchlight in the shadow side eye!

A very cute sujct Melvin! I agree with what the others have said so won't repeat them, I would only like to add that the soft look could merely be a result of lack of sharpening applied to the jpeg (which is what I suspect).

Funny EXIF figures btw, I suppose most software rounds it off to 1/1600 and f/5.6

Cute critter, nice pose. I like the back/side lighting also and the BG looks good. It does look OOF to me though. Did you sharpen it? Nice photo except for the focus.
