Clash of the Titans

This was taken on a film camera, may be about ten years back. Both the bulls were in masth and equally matched. The one on the left was stronger and heavier but had short tusks, but the one on right was lighter but with longer tusks. First I saw them from a distance of about one km. while rushing to the scene, I kept praying that they might allow me atleast one charge. They did oblige but didn't give me any chance to change the lense. So when they actually clashed, I was strugling to keep both of them in the frame. After this they vanished into the Sal forest, chasing each other.
Thankyou so much for your kind attention & views!
Canon film camera, 300mm lense.

Great catch, even if tight in the frame

Here we all are, posting a bison, an elk, a few local birds, and there YOU are, posting elephants, tigers and jungle cats.
** sigh**

Very good. You got all the elements, great subjects, hot action and sweet light! I hope these guys didn't do any serious damage to each other.

Very nice Jagdeep. Good action, perfect poses and good light. I agree with your self-assessment about the tail ends being clipped, a real pity. Also the third elephant's tail behind the richt bull is a slight distraction IMO.

Lovely Jagdeep, great timing, great action, lovely light . Shame about the slightly too tight crop but a very nice image none the less.

Hi Jagdeep,

Great thing to witness and a really interesting behavioural shot. The detail in the larger version looks quite good - those old slides are worth the effort to scan and touch-up.

Totally understand the issue of having no chance to change lenses. Given the unavoidable clipping of each elephant, I'd be tempted to crop more tightly on the heads and forelegs and make this more of a closeup of the action (and it would look much more intentional!).

Cheers...

Brad

Great action scene, Jagdeep! Pity about the tightness of the framing.

Great photo! The action you have captured overcomes any small faults in this photo. Thanks for sharing.
