From Lake Nockamixon before it was totally frozen. A lower angle would be better, but I didn't have a chance to get down further.

50D, 500mm, ISO 200, 1/2500, F5.6 LARGER version posted also, and ThankYou for your critique/comments.

Love the detail and colors Sharon, and the soft water is real nice. :toast:

I'm glad I looked at the larger version Sharon, the smaller one doesn't do this justice - lovely detail and even light.

cheers

Super job Sharon!
I would like a little more room top and left.
Detail, color, water movement -wonderful.

superb detail and nice water droplets, Sharon. I think I'd selectively sharpen the eye a bit more to give this more impact.

The detail in the larger image is super Sharon. I like the like and water drops scattered about the bird. Great look at the eye. Given the nice smoothness of the GB water I might crop more up from the bottom and then give more room on top. Back and from look good IMO. The only thing I wish for here is a lower angle. This shot just begs for it IMO, but sometimes you just can't get any lower. Fine shot as posted.

Sharon, agree that a lower angle would be better, but you take what you can. Details in the large version are excellent! Only suggestion would be a bit more room on the left for "swimming space" but quite nice just the same.

Larger version looks real nice. Very sharp and good shadow detail in the black head.

Sharon,

I like the cool tones of the water against the warm tones of the bird. The eye does appear a touch soft, though I am not sure why, I would selectively sharpen that a bit more. I think if you have the space a little more room in front of the duck would strengthen the comp. I like the wate droplets, the little bow wave in front of the bird. Exposure looks good too.
