Almost black and white
by Ken Smith
I had a chance to visit the Tacoma, WA Conservatory this week. I enjoyed warm and humid plant smells more than sights. Always keep an eye out for white flowers with lots of ruffles and curls. This looked like it had potential. It reminds me of a Japanese anemone. But extra petals and curls don't align with the variety in my garden.
I darkened the surrounding foliage, then punched up curves and desaturated the petals. The hardest part was trying to delete the noise in the petals and retain some sharpness. A bit of struggle and compromise shown, esp in the large version. I may have to limit this to postcard size prints. Comments appreciated.

Personally, I'd clean up some of the spots on the petals, too.
