That is an amazing looking bird. Woody woodpecker come to life! Unfortunately there are a couple of things going against you, the utility pole perch and the fact that it is pretty OOF.With a SS that fast it wouldn't be camera or subject movement so the AF apparently just didn't get the job done. Too bad cause that is really a neat looking bird.

Great shot of a interesting bird. The top looks a little out of focus but the color contrasts are wonderful. This is a striking woodpecker.

This is always an exciting bird to see just because of how big they are ! A shame there is motion blur here , but thanks for posting sir.

Woody woodpecker! Great bird and congrats for getting a shot of him (her?). It looks like either camera shake or focus issues.

Birds are challenging but NPN comments are so encouraging and helpful to developing avian photographers. Great woodpecker and you did get the catch light.

Good capture and the exposure looks good. You've got pretty severe motion blur; if you look at the cable in the lower left you can see it is blurred, ruling out movement by the bird. Maybe propped on a car window with the engine running (a mistake I have made)?
