Where I Belong

Hello Everyone,

I just returned home from my honeymoon last night. We had a spectacular time and some much needed R&R. We changed up plans and headed to the Riviera Maya instead of our first plan of Maui. In the end the all inclusive, don't do a thing resort, worked out the best. I was the least prepared photographically though. Armed with only one standard lens, CPL and tripod was going to have to do. I kept my early morning and late night outings to a bare minimum. Time spent together was top priority here. I did manage to capture some moments of this beautiful place.

It was my first time photographing the ocean with my camera so don't be too hard on me.
The water was gorgeous and small coral formations littered the beach. I had a blast timing the rush of tides and waves. It really is different yet the challenge was really fun. It will be nice to share some images with you all and I am looking forward to looking back on everyone's work.

Thanks for your time as always and comments too

A pleasing comp with plenty of interest top to bottom and with nice complimentary colors too. I'd say your first foray into ocean photography was a success... like you said, it can be very challenging yet also rewarding. Nice work!

Welcome back, Anthony, and once again you have managed to convey a lot of emotion in your image. The horizon is a wee bit tilted it looks like, but that is really being picky. The shutter speed is very effective in showing the power of the waves.

Beautiful array of elements and color. I think you might need just a wee bit of counterclockwise rotation to level the horizon. Congrats on your wedding.

Welcome back Anthony, glad you had a wonderful time! Nice image too  except for the green background... not so sure about that one, did you mean to do that?

Fantastic shot!!! Seems like there may be a slight ccw tilt? Nothing to do with the image, but the bg color, for me, doesn't seem to mesh that well with the colors in the image. Anyway, great image and glad you had a good honeymoon.

Thanks everyone
I don't know what's going on about the green background it should be black
in fact it's black on my screen, maybe a moderator can change that really strange. I would never use green as a backdrop

I really like this Anthony, wonderful comp here. I like the sense of motion back and forth throughout the image, and the coral really anchors the scene. Great colors as well.
Welcome back.

Beautiful image Anthony. the colors and tones, as well as the water motion, are all really stunning to me. And this is your first attempt at photographing the ocean. Wish my first tries had turned out this well. Shows what can be accomplished with minimal gear. Superb work and congratulations.

welcome back, Anthony! man, for you´re first attempt you did very well. love the fg colors and textures, water action in the midground as well. wouldn´t mind seeing a tad more sky here, looks like there was lots of drama there. ps: you really don´t wanna see my first seascapes.... ! great work.

Gorgeous image, interesting throughout. With this type of image I'm so used to the stellar foreground leading to a relatively boring sea, and then a dramatic sky. What makes this stand out is the wave action making the middle layer stellar as well! Excellent choice of exposure as well, the flow is spot on!
