Orange Skies
by Luke Ormand
I went out to the ocean after work today in hopes of seeing the rare harlequin ducks (see my latest avian post) which are in the area. They were gone, but there were about 10 harp seals in the calm ocean waters which was very odd. They are always in the bay or the inlet, but this evening the seals were "persicoping" in the gorgeous colored water. Between the seals and the sunset (and the unseasonably warm temps) I was quite content. I took some photos of the setting sun and corresponding sky with my 300 f/4 + 1.7. The colors are totally natural.
I went through many many iterations of this, and still am unsure.
Liquified (a lot), noise reduction, watercolor

14 commentsHappy to hear that compliment! I seriously tried about 6 different things on this and was unhappy with all of them... it was getting late and I decided to do some simple work while keeping the layerd look
