White-throated Fantail

Western Himalayas, India
1D2N, 500mm+2x, tripod, f/9, 1/500, ISO400, -1/3ev

Another restless bird that I was happy to get out in the open. These birds usually stay close to the undergrowth where the light is inadequate to capture their fast movements. This one came out to drink at a small stream and gave me some shots.

All comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Good job getting this Satie - if its like our fantails then I know what problems you were facing. Like the detail.

cheers

Terrific light and detail Satie! If you have a minute to send me an email, I am curious on how you are getting this amount of shaarpness out of your 500 + 2x combo. I made a few changes to mine that helped, but wondering if you have some better techniques.because the sharpness in this shot is terrific for using a 2x!

beautiful, Satie! A great namesake pose with that fanned tail. This is very nice in every respect: great pose, detail, exposure, perch, bg. Nice shot. :toast:

Wonderful light & details Satie, I enjoy the great look at the bird's eye, your choice of comp and the way it feels like this bird is about to lift off. Excellent sharpness, lovely background and a gorgeous bird.

Wow! Another superb capture, Satie! The Fantails in Singapore/Malaysia behave the same way, so I can see why you are so pleased to get one like this. Well done!

A great looking bird Satie. I like the aggresive pose and the great eye contact. Really nice light and catchlight. The perch is nice and the BG perfect for showing off this bird. Well done.
