This is a recent image from Sanibel Island, Florida. The beach had a wonderful array of Cockel Shells. This one was sitting all alone in the sunset. Canon 1D Mark III, 17-40mmL Canon lens, two grad ND filters.

Sweet! But I think this would be better with about half of the sky cropped out, its is distractingly dark at the top and doesnt add much...

I partly agree on the crop, just not that much of the sky. I would crop at the last visible cloud. The gradient to the night sky adds interest and believability. The shell as anchor and the sunset are sweet, as is the texture added by the sand. Not so sure about the blurred surf. It seems out of context almost, when the rest of the image projects the calm and peace of a day's end.

I love the color of the sand and the reflected light on the beach. I agree with Phil's crop suggestions on the sky. Very nice water action in the FG.

Great light and I really like the comp. I agree about a slight crop off the top, as I find the upper sky a little too dark. Nice shot.

Beautiful combination of detail and graceful curves. The warm, low light on the sand creates great detail. I really like the combination of blurred motion in the close water, with the shutter fast enough to capture the waves in the distance.

Nice light and comp. Agree with the crop ideas mentioned already. I really love the s-curve going through the frame from shell to water to sky

Really enjoy this image with the great surf motion, the lovely sky and of course the shell. Looks like you were right down on the sand. Well done.

Maybe a slight crop off the top.

I love the comp here, Dave, and the lighting on the sand is fabulous. Here's another vote for a small crop from the top.

Very nice.
I am distracted by the black sky. I would try to correct it in Raw with a graduated adjustment, or maybe crop it out, or a bit of both.

Very nice. The position of the shell is perfect. I agree with the suggested crop of the sky.
