This syrphid fly was determined to land on the thistle, and made several attempts before landing, or maybe it was just looking for the best spot!

I like the fact that you were able to freeze the syrphid fly before it came to a landing. It is a good behavior shot that can be tough to get. The lavender on the thistle look a little bit blown out, though. Not enough to be very distracting.

John: Nice capture of the hover fly in flight. Love the wing motion.

Wing motion is really nice with the bright reflections. Super DOF is one of the nice things about shooting with a small-sensor camera.
