Cappuccin monkey enjoying lunch, deftly grabbed from a picnic. Photograph taken on December 30, 2005 at the Manuel Antonio Nature Reserve, Costa Rica.

Fujifilm S2Pro, Nikon 70-200mm, f/4.8, 1/350, ISO 100.

Would appreciate your comments and critique.

Technically speaking, an image like this is very difficult since you're shooting a poorly-lit monkey against a bright background. There is some light on the monkey's face, however, that it works alright. I think it would work a little better if it wasn't framed/cropped so tightly.

But as a nature photographer, I will be honest and say that this image doesn't work for me at all. There's nothing natural about this behavior, and I think that one of the hallmarks of a good wildlife photograph is the ability to capture the subject in a natural environment with natural behavior.

In other words, I think your photo would have much more impact if you had waited for the capuchin to drop the melon.

Interesting photo under a difficult lighting situation. IMHO a fill flash would have helped this shot alot. The behavior is natural even though the sliced melon is not. Thanks for sharing.
