What a handsome devil with the great greens to show off the yellow.

And played very well too Charlie. Very good sharpness in the bird and entire long perch. Excellent pose, clean background and perfect light. Wonderfully done.

Nice lighting and an interesting perch. I know you probably don't want to cut off the tip of the branch, but I'd take a bit off the top and right sides to keep the bird from being dead center. That would improve this a lot IMO.

I love the isolation Charlie, especially with the splash of yellow. What is it perched on? Is it a species of holly?
Btw, hope you appreciate all the color in this photo... won't be any in Long Island this week!

Charlie: Really pretty. The perch and background are just stunning as is the Goldfinch. The centered composition bothers me however.

This is excellent, Charlie. Great perch and pose. Sweet background. The Goldfinch is tack sharp. Perfect job on the exposure.

Love the colors and patterns on this very interesting species. The greens in the bgrd and perch work nicely with the bird. The goldfinch appears maybe a bit centered, but I wouldn't be cropping into the branch on the right either, so probably the optimal composition for the situation.

Beautiful, Charlie! wonderful light, bg, bird, perch. I'm also conflicted about the comp. The bird does feel too centered to me, but it would also be a shame to cut off the tip of the branch...

Very nice Charlie ! Now, If you could just get him to hop onto the end of that holly it would be even better

So pretty, Charlie. Love the fact that we can see the tip of the branch, and I wouldn't change the comp at all (the "centered-ness" of the bird doesn't bother me).... but what do I know, I'm just a beginner!

It's a beautiful shot Charlie, love the greens, I'd just place the bird a little higher in the frame here to avoid the centered comp

What a comp Charlie. The exposure is spot on and the perch just takes this over the top for me. Well done for sure.

Very well played Charlie. The composition works great and the blurred BG helps us appreciate all of the detail in the goldfinch.
