Hey guys,

This one is from January and it's inspired from the works of 2 very talented photographers, Anthony Vincent and Matt Anderson. Hope you like it and that it does some justice to my sources of inspiration.

The larger version has a bit more sharpening

This is lovely Dorin. I have one comment, maybe the branch that is right in the middle is making the composition a little bit static, and i might have preferred to have some more of the strong tree coming from the right? Minor nit, the image really works as it is, just thinking outloud! Congrats, really graphical and strong image here...

This is totally cool--well structured chaos! I agree with Rafael about the central tree, but its very minor, overall this is outstanding.

I like the composition but I agree with Rafael about the tree right in the middle. but it's minor and it's a good graphical image.

Lovely chaotic jumble Dorin, well seen. I like the processing here too. The trunk on the upper right is distracting for me; I like the comp a little more with that cropped out. Still, great work!

Very interesting shot Dorin. I feel the best part of the image is on the left of the middle. This invites for some more shots of this scene. However I already like it much as it is.

This is nice Dorin, great mood and lots of detail. It feels a tad heavy on the right side with the intruding larger trunk on the border, but not too bad.
Great winter scene.

Both of those guys are inspirations to all of us. They should be proud of your work in this one. Excellent comp, conditions, light, and treatment. Nice work.

I like how the main snow covered trunks are largely enveloped by the smaller twigs. That really helps to keep my eyes in the image. I too wonder if there is a comp to be found without that larger trunk in the URC, but that's a minor nit to an otherwise fine image. Well seen and captured!

I think you almost can't go wrong with this subject matter. You have done very well with it here. I have yet to be able to shoot something like this, but I keep hoping. Very nice!

Amid all this chaos, the seems to be some order with the larger trunks/branches. Surprisingly appealing comp.

Dorin, thanks for the nice words.

Lots of amazing talent on this site! I really love the individuals who strive to create a real unique or original piece. Less documentary and more Artsy.

I like everything about the shot. I see what others say about the offending dark branch. I think if you change the comp you lose the scene. If it were mine, I might dodge or lighten the shadows on the offending branch to minimize the contrast that pulls on the eye. Also, a slight highlight-midtone burn to the surrounding space, thus equalizing the offending area. Another trick I learned back in theater lighting classes at UW Madison was to squint at a scene so it's blurry, see if the points of dark and light fall where you want the Visual Interest to be ...

you've got some real nice work

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really appreciate it. As for the adressed issues, can't do much about it, as I like the composition as it is.
Matt, thank you, I'll try that. As for the squinting, I do it every time.

Well titled, Dorin! You've done well abstracting a portion of the trees.
I like it.
