Andrew,
very nice light and exposure. I like the droplets on the back. I'd like to see more head turn.

Very nice reflections and soft lighting across his sides. Coots can be tough subjects good shot.

Nice exposure and I like the calm water. Wish he was looking more towards us, but.... Sharon

Andrew,

I like the calmness of the water and the nice light in your image. As posted it is a little small to evaluate sharpness & detail but at this size they look good.

I like the feather detail on the wing. That would make a nice abstact macro shot. Nice rings on the water. I agree if the head was turned toward the camera it would have had more interest. But nice shot overall. :jump: :jump:

That's some serious iso, but noise looks well under control here, sharpness is probably a good tradeoff for a little bit of noise (that can be fixed if needed anyway). I would also like to see him broadside to the lens or with a head turn but these guys do tend to turn tail and scoot away don't they. I have never posted this species because there aren't many around here and because they do run and hide when I see them at camera range.

It looks like you have some good detail here and I like the light and exposure. It would have been nicer if the Coot had been quartering toward you instead of away, but that's the way it works some times. It does look like this still isn't 720 pixels in the largest dimension. :toast:

Your exposure looks very good on this coot Andrew, it would be nice to see it at the 720 pixel size limit for regular postings. Comp wise, I'd crop some off the top here. :toast:
