Went looking for snow buntings today and didn't have any luck, but did find a few horned larks. Funny, I had to drive NORTH to find areas with LESS snow! I'm so looking forward to spring!

Just wanted to add...so many wonderful photos being posted here lately by all of you!

I like the setting, the corn husks (?) are the perfect color to match this bird. This species always looks grumpy to me, must be the dark mustache, looks like a frown.

Sharon, hope you didn't have to go too far north! This is really nice. good details, a nice pose, and I really like that you got one of the horns. I think that the centered comp works with this pose. :toast:

Love the raised horns, warm light, and headturn. Nice details too. I think the corn stalk makes a great perch with colors that compliment the bird.

A pleasing image. These birds are such ground-pounders that I have a hard time getting within shooting ranege. I'd love to have something like this in my files.

Sharon,

I love the setting you have here, the snow and corn husks are great. I also love the pose of the lark and the look over the shoulder showing the curl of the horn. A very appealing image as posted.

There isn't enough snow on the ground here for my tastes, the mountains have plenty but the valley has very little. After 5 years without snow I don't want spring to come too soon!

Great capture Sharon. Horned Larks are tough to get close to around here. The colors of the environment work really well to compliment the lark.

Really nice Sharon - the setting colors go so well with the lark. Love that one horn. Your comp also works well for me.
