Green Winged Teal

Thought I would post a "non Bittern" photo, just to see if I could remember how. We have had some gorgeous sunny weather this week in the Pacific Northwest and starting to see some early pairing of birds. This green-winged teal was shot yesterday and in evaluating the detail, comp, colors and water I think it may be my best of this species.

Craig,
I'm a little jealous of your good weather. This winter is very cold and rainy here in North Italy.
Great light, detail and pose. I love the rich colors too. Wonderful shot! :toast:

I like this drake in the subdued light. A lower perspective would be nice but this is a nice solid shot of him. Sharon

Craig

We are beginning to see pairing activity here too though we have not had an abundance of cloud free days the temps have been warmer than I expected at this time of the year here. I'd hate to see winter go after living in FL for 5 years I relished the crisp cold mornings we had last month! I'd like sun shine though (in case the weather gods are reading NPN).

I love the colors in this image, the look you appear to be getting from the duck and the wonderful iridescence in the greens around & behind the eye.

Craig I really like this one, except if it was possible to be at a lower angel. Other than that the colors, exposure and sharpness are spot on. Well done! :toast:

Love the intense color. Nice crop and smooth water action and just enough reflection.

It's one of the best I've seen or tried for myself, Craig. Beautifully captured in a great comp with brilliant color. I'm jealous…

Craig, great shot of this GWT. Super sharp, great colors, and a full breeding plumage. I too would like to see a lower angle, but this is really nice as posted.

Very nice, Craig. The detail in the bird is especially good. I envy your liquid water and right skies.

I see plenty of this species here in winter in AZ, but I can't get anywhere close like this here.

Well done.
