Determination

Taken at Yellowstone a few weeks ago, I was intrigued by this hardy little grouping of grass poking up through the snow cover and especially how the early morning sunlight lit the grass with shadow immediately behind, resulting in a nice warm/cool contrast. I wish the dof was a little more, so that all the grasses were in focus - but then I would have more unwanted detail in the bg. Is the dof enough, though? C&C appreciated.

Please VIEW LARGE for best detail.

Beautiful golden light on the grass and it contrasts nicely with the shadowed snow in the BG.

There's indeed beautiful light on the grass. I like the color contrast of that golden glow of the grass to that blue toned snow.

This is very nice Doug. As you mentioned the contrast between the warm early sun light and the cool shadowed snow is great. I like the depth of field and think it is enough. The background out of focus snow really looks good. Nice work on this.

Nicely done. I love the warm/cool color combination and the texture in the snow. I think the DOF is adequate but a little more would be nice.

Cheers,
Mark

On the border of light. Very fascinating for me, Doug. Larger version seems to be 3D on my monitor.

The complimentary colors of yello/gold and blue work great here and especially with the shadow.

DOF looks fine at this size, Doug. The contrast works very well. This would be tough to see I think just walking around.
