These guys never come into our yard because the woods in the back lot are preferred but we are having record snows right now so he was up at our feeders.

The open mouth and tongue showing is great with the snow being icing on the cake. Would have liked a little light on the eye and slightly better exposure on the breast but it was a tough shot to get, good job.

A very nice shot Doug. I like the overall feel of winter and the great BG. The exposure on the bird is OK with me. Some light in the eye would have been very nice, but in these dark conditions not much you could do.

Catching the moment with the open mouth and the flakes falling is really nice Douglas. Well handled.

Douglas:
The thumbnail certainly does not do this one justice. I like the mood of the larger image with the dark, snowy BG and pretty bird in a nice pose. Did you use flash?

This has a neat wintery feel to it, the falling snow adds a lot. I also like the open bill.

Very nice, excellent pose of the subject and great winter mood with falling snow, naked twigs and OOF leaf.
