First of the 2010 Crocus

This is the earliest I can recall that the Crocus have bloomed.

D700, Lensbaby w/ +4+10 diopters stacked, handheld; f 4, 1/80, ISO 200. Cloudy bright in late afternoon (here in the PNW at this time of year, make that around 3:30, now about 90 mins before sunset.)

The flowers had a lovely glow and I hope it shows here.

Thanks, as always, for offering your critique.

And so it begins. Ya'll in the NW have such a wide variety of seasons and scenery. I am very jealous. I really like the comp and your dof. The softness is wonderful, too.

You're lucky to have flowers so early in the year! I like the dof. There's a nice soft look to the petals.

Thanks for the post Catherine, I'll be looking for some crocus when I'm in Portland later today. Nicely framed, and the LB effect works well here with the nice shallow DOF.

Catherine: I always look forward to your crocus shots and with this one you have certainly not disappointed. Love the POF - you've really mastered the Lensbaby. This is a classy shot. >=))> :toast:

I am envious of your early crop of Spring but am happy for you. Love the soft touch and the muted colors.

Wow! LUCKY! We are still a couple of months away from crocus Catherine. I really like your DOF choice and the subtle Lensbaby effect on this one is wonderful. Nice shot!

Very nice Catherine. I'm normally not a fan of lensbaby, but you are doing wonders for changing that. Love the presentation as well. Good job :toast:

A lovely closeup, Catherine. The various background colors work well
to support the main subject.
