Fading Fast

About a month and a half ago I was out snowshoeing with my friend when we found this grove of oak trees near sunset. I was fortunate to have a clearing that allowed the sun to hit the trees as it set. I shot multiple different comps, but I liked this on the most. This was the last shot I took before the sun disappeared for the night.

Comments and critiques appreciated.

Compression is killing the small file, please view LARGE.

Thanks,

Ben

The light on the tree is wonderful Ben. The rest all falls into place.

Excellent warm light to bring out this trees texture. I also like the warm/cool contrast.

You're right; the LARGER PHOTO is much better. The color here
is great. It seems to glow. It's quite a stately tree. I'm wondering
if it would be worth experimenting to use a shallower depth of field
to see what you get. It might make the tree stand out from the
background even more. Just a thought.

Nice light! A vertical zoomed into that tree cutting out the snow, left side, and some off the top and right would be awesome too.

Great catch. This tree is like a sunlight magnet compared to the others.

The last-minute glow sets this apart from the other snow-on-branches images. Makes for a strong focal point and the warm colors feel so good when it's so cold.
