Cruising
by Craig Strand
On tuesday I came across 4 river otters cruising a couple of sloughs at the Ridgefield NWR and catching fish. The otters can be very fast making getting into position ahead of them for a shot challenging. I have some action shots with fish hanging half out of their mouths, but I think this shot captures the beauty and detail of this aquatic mammal.

6 commentsCongrats on this amazing photo! Who knew River Otters had blue eyes? The intimacy of this shot is truly amazing and is National Geographic caliber stuff. Can not wait to see the rest
The composition works very well though it could use a touch more room in the "front (right side) if it's available
