Hey, guys!

Last weekend I spent a whole day at the foot of a mountain not far from home. It was cold, windy and the landscape looked very desolated and moody. From time to time, the light of the "freezing" sun was filtered through high altitude clouds. I spotted this group of young trees and thought they would be a good subject given the conditions. I know it looks more like autumn, but I was actually standing in almost 10cm of snow. The dry wind and a group of older trees from behind really helped in bringing the chaotic feeling in to the picture (and the lack of snow). I'm really interested in your opinions about this one. Thanks!

Very good work. I like the soft light on the tree trunks and the strong vertical patterns in the image.

So many hidden colors, I love it! The soft light on the green trunks is really nice. I would have a hard time processing this, so many ways to take it.

Great detail!!! Love the textures. Perhaps a bit right heavy, as the concentration of larger trees is positioned towards the right of the image. Regardless, a finely crafted image.

This is great. Shots like this are hard to pull off sometimes, but this one works very well for me. Nice work, Dorin.

Overall, this is extremely cool! I have one thought/critique that maybe most folks wont agree with (but they're all wrong  ) which is that the green hue in the trees takes away from some of the beautiful chaos in this; the gree is complimentry to the reddish hues, which basically 'breaks' this down into strong vertical lines/shapes. Personally id prefer it to all blend together so that is morea study of the textures rather than the forms--for that reason i think id even prefer this monochrome. Just a presonal preference. :wavey:

Stan, I totally agree. The green was my main concern also. I feel it's a bit too strong, but also intriguing, so I let it as it was. I tried a b&w, but just didn't work for me. I'll give it another go. I do have some shots where I got a little closer, that were processed in a almost high-key b&w. Maybe I'll post one of those.

Great photo. The chaos really works here, but I think it would have more impact if the contrast was pumped up a little...especially bringing the midtones way down.

Rhythm, color, texture, and excellent light. It all comes together for a very pleasing image. My eye enjoys wandering all over this.

I particularly like the greenish/reddish color contrasts on the right. The right 40% could almost be it's own picture.

An incredibly beautiful photograph. This one must be true delight to view as a print. The light on the trunks is sublime.

man, this isn´t an easy one to pull but you did very well, friend. I like the contrasts here between red/brown and green trunks and the detail top to bottom. I don´t know why but when I see these kind of comps I kind of see them in b&w, you know I´m a b&w addict, maybe it´s just that but this works nicely for me as is. nice piece of work dorin.

Works for me Dorin, I like the primary colors here, and the nice lines of the trunks. I do find the right side of the image a little stronger than the left. I might consider cropping some of the left if it were mine. Just a thought, very nice image.

The larger version is really a nice way to get lost. I love all the subtle colors and the way the smaller twigs form a net around the vertical trunks.

This is really nice Dorin. The colours and lines are beautiful. I'll bet this would look great as a very large print.

Dorin,

Staggering amount of detail and the vertical lines hashed with the diagonal branches is amazing. Really nice.
