Made a trip to the White Mountains two years ago. This was shot on a clear fall day just as the sun hit the horizon of the Sierra on the opposite side of the Owens Valley.

I like your composition and the warm light on the Bristlecone against the dark blue sky. This would work well in B/W too, I believe. The polarization is a little strong in the upper LHC, but that's not a problem from my point of view. I do wonder if your choice of aperture rendered some of the plants along the bottom of the frame a bit out of focus.

What a great tree. It almost feels like it dancing. Even though the light isn't overly dramatic, I like the color version best.

Nice find Russell. I like the color version - looks almost like cross-processing.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. This site is one of the best experiences I've encountered for learning. This image was processed in Lightroom 2 and has not been worked much. It started as a raw image and has had adjustments to contrast, saturation and sharpness, but not too much else. I planned this trip for weeks and the day before I got there it snowed and had great light. But the afternooon I was there the sky cleared and, well, you can see what it looked like. I'm sensing a need to learn PS from the conversations on this site. You guys are talking about things I'm not well versed in. Great thing about photography - you're never done learning. Thanks
