What a delight to find dozens of the lovely birds at Morro Bay.
Canon 50D
EF400mm f/4 DO IS USM
ISO 200
f/5.6 @ 1/640
Been a while since I posted a bird, so would greatly appreciate suggestions.

Excellent composition, the broken reflection in the lower right corner helps the balane. I like the one-legged stance and side view. I guess it's like riding a bike Stephen, you haven't missed a step even thought it's been a while. :toast:

Nice work Stepehen, comp and pose both look great. I'd be inclined to darken the midtones a touch.

Stephen,

This image has a very serene feeling to it that I like a lot. I like the one-legged pose and the profile of the long bill.

Hi Stephen,
very nice image of a beautiful subject. Besides what others said, I like a lot fluffy pectoral feathers. If possible, I would have preferred a little more room on the left side.

I like the one-legged pose and setting. Good view of that long bill too.

Great shot Stephen - wonderful pose and nice head turn. The plumage has a lot of detail but I might be tempted to selectively sharpen the eye area a little to give it a little oomph.

cheers

The one-legged pose and detail are great, Stephen. I especially like how the reflection is not a distraction in this case: it's indistinct but present. :toast:
