Still mining the archives.

Took this last winter at a nature park where they had feeders up. The fox sparrow was one of many different cooperative species in the area that day.

This is almost full frame; cloned out a dust bunny.

1DIII, 500 f4+1.4 TC, ISO 640, 1/160 @ f8, EV -2/3, FF -1/3

Thanks for looking.

This is really nice, Ed. The coloring of the bird fits the background so well. I can tell that the photo as taken is quite sharp, but it seems just a touch oversharpened after the fact.... A good clean view of this bird. :toast:

No nits. Well posed and positioned, good eye contact and catch light.

Very nice. The BG works well, and the detail in the bird and perch are great.

A very appealing perch and harmonious colors. It looks a little over sharpened, but otherwise everything looks spot on

I've never had much luck getting such a clear shot of a fox sparrow, this is great! Perch is nice too, and a perfect pose.

Gorgeous, my friend! This is one 'archive' I have not seen. They are tough to get up on a clean perch.

All round fine image Ed - pose, head-turn, sympathetic colours in background - all good.

Nicely done Ed . I really like the complementary colours and BG, and its great to see the different race of Fox Sparrow posted, compared to the rufous variant we get here.

Amazingly clean image of this guy. I really like the pose that shows him off from beak to tail.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

What particularly appealed to me was that this was a natural perch too. The sparrows of various types liked to come to this branch as a place to check out if it was safe to approach. The fox sparrow and some other LBJs (Little Brown Jobs for those of you who aren't fully initiated into bird-photog-speak) looked good against the winter foliage BG I thought. Glad you agree.

This is very nice Ed, it looks a little over-sharpened to me as presented. I like the colours and thats a great pose.
