This prehistoric creature was just waiting for a newborn bird to fall from it's nest. I photographed this image at sunrise at Anhinga in the Everglades with my Canon 1dMK IV on tripod, ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/400 sec, EF500mm +1.4TC, 910mm, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Comments Welcome....

Just wanted to correct an error in specs. This was shot at ISO 1250.

Hi Richard,

I like the hi-key effect here and how you've positioned the subject in the frame (and strong diagonals like this almost always add to an image). My biggest nit on this image is not being able to see a larger version, which is not a real nit at all...

RE: Your comment: "Comments Welcome...". Yes, everyone appreciates feedback on their images, so don't hesitate yourself to jump in and comment on those of others. They'll appreciate it and everyone will benefit. I think if you follow this gallery closely you'll see there's a strong correlation between the number of comments people have left on others image vs. what they receive on their's!

Cheers...

Brad

PS: Hope you take my comment in the right light - we do everything we can to encourage two-way participation in this gallery (and on NPN in general), which is why the posting guidelines encourage members to leave 5 comments for every image they post...

Interesting how the high key surroundings make the croc (or aligator, I know they are not the same but I don't know how to tell them apart in a photo) appear to be floating in space. Nice reflection that accentuates that interesting floating impression.

Great image. A nice artistic approach to a common subject. I love the way it sets off the white around the eye.
