Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1/125 @ f11

This is in response to suggestions made on my most recent post in the Weekly Challenge. It's a pretty severe crop but I have to agree with the folks who made the recommendations that this is an intriguing alternative. Now I wish I would have shot it tighter to begin with. Oh well, I can always use a good excuse to go back. Taken in Tuolomne Meadows in October of 2008. All comments welcome. >=))>

Hi Bill,

A very unique image - kind of reminds me of Christmas ornaments. Exceptional vision on your part and the image is crystal clear. I would also like to see this in a black & white and/or sepia. Thanks for sharing. Michael

I love the play between the sharp ice crystals and the oof rocks. There is so much to enjoy and appreciate. I just viewed your weekly challenge post and I like both, but find this version a bit more aesthetic.

What is going on here, Bill? Are those ice crystals on the surface of the water that just happen to look like snowflakes??? It's a really nice image all around!

Wow, what a fantastic shot!! It is amazing how God puts his glory on display in even the most minute details in creation and yet those are only the fringes of His ways. Soli Deo Gloria, indeed!! :wavey:

Spledid, Bill. I'm often walking with my head down, hoping to find something like that. Ice is always in for a real surprise. Great find and realization.

This is really nice. It reminds me of the old-fashioned glass in a church near my grandmother's house I would go to as a child.

What a pleasant surprise from the thumbnail. I like the three-dimensional aspect of this image with the details up front and the blurred shapes and colors in the bg. Very nice!

This is totally amazing! The thumbnail does not begin to do this justice, Bill. This would make a beautiful and unique Christmas card.

What vision to have seen this! It's marvelous! I love the dainty, delicate patterns of the ice. I'm curious what a B/W version would look like. Congrats on a great image!
