Autumn hats

I photographed this mycena sp. on a pinecone with a long-focus lens, instead of a macrolens. I used a pile of autumn leafs for the background. Although I seldom clone things out, I removed two small out of focus mushrooms, because they were a bit distracting. Hope you like it. All comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Excellent colours, lovely DOF and very clear view of the ribs (not sure if that's what they are called). Brilliant in every way :toast: :toast: :toast: did you have to lie on the ground for this or use a angle finder?

Exceptionally fine image for my tastes Sandra. Love the low pov, your dof decision and the warm supporting fg and bg. Makes me feel like I'm looking at something in an incubator.

This is a combination of subjects that I haven't seen before. The uniqueness of the image is the first draw for me and the wonderful earth tones, comp & natural vignetting really emphasis the mycena. Well done Sandra!

Whimsical! Very well composed! DOF works well to isolate and highlight. Greens...Oh...so minor .... hardly worth mentioning.. but...here goes..a tad overpowering... i would have been tempted to try different foreground color/comps as you've done w/b/g. Well done. Ken S

Very nice! I love the colors, the composition, everything, but I would like to see it also with maybe less noise reduction or a little more detail just in the mushrooms if that's possible. That's just a personal inclination, though. This is lovely as is.

Wow, this is stunning Sandra, the mushrooms look like palm trees on a tropical island in a sea of grass...or at least to bugs maybe! The colours are nice too, and well done controlling the DOF, it couldn't of been easy for such small subjects!

This is really a unique photo. I can't say I have ever seen mushrooms growing from a pine cone. The low angle was a great choice as was the longer lens perspective. Thoroughly interesting :toast:

A wonderfully conceived and executed shot. I love the softness of the bg and also the fg grass. The details in the mushrooms are good and the colors are very pleasing. I enjoyed viewing this very much.
