River Sand

Taken in NE Kansas, USA, when the Kansas River flow was low.

The sand patterns are effected as the water level drops over time.

Nikon d700, Nikkor 28mm prime f/2.8 @ f/16, 1/90 sec., ISO 560, aperature priority. Polarizer was used to keep the sand light level lower.

Love the idea, definitely a worthy subject, but im not sure about the comp--the bright green/blue in the bg draws my attention there, when it seems the sand patterns are the main subject. So maybe too much in one shot. You stole Rob's title too

Stan,

I was not happy with the color in this. The polarizer made colors intense and I did not reduce the saturation.

So I guess the lines in the sand are not strong enough to be the subject. I agree.

I think I see what you mean by the green overpowering the sand. I reduced the green in this submission. Still not the best photo but I learned something by your comment if this is more what you meant.

Appreciate a come back on this one.

I think the problem here might be the contrast between the beautiful greens/ the blue and the murky water/sand. On the other hand, I really like that you showed the sand patterns in its environment. It would be worth trying a shot of the scene in really bad weather.
