The Bird of Paradise flower has got to be one of the most unique plants in the floral kingdom. Shot while on a trip to Hawaii, with a Nikon D200 DSLR, using a Nikkor 18-135mm Lens.

Richard: Very sharp and nice capture of this flower. The background is kind of busy and using a large aperture may help.

Love the colors Richard. The light seems a little harsh to me in this and makes it hard to separate the flowers from the bg for me even given the color. I like the composition very much.

Richard: One of my very favorite subjects and this one is unique with the double head. The light is tough but you did well not to have any hot spots and the colors show through pretty well in spite of it. Nice work. >=))>

Striking flowers very nicely captured. For me, I find the background a bit distracting, a more shallow depth of field may have helped but then you might not have the detail in the flower as they are such big blooms. Big blooms are always a challenge for me. Thanks for posting, this reminds me of Hawaii and that is a good thing.
