Brown-capped Rosy Finch - with RePost

This is another of the Rosy Finches that hang out at the top of the Sandia Crest near Albuqueurque, NM. Taken the same day as the Black Rosy that I posted a couple of weeks ago. Cold, blowing snowy kind of day, but it sure made for some nice perch opportunities.

Larger image included for critique.

Great little bird, and I like the comp here. Seems just a bit dark to me, though, and a little tight at top - both very easily improved if you wished.
Nice!

A nice shot of a very good bird. Fine work to get two-thirds of the Rosy-finches in one day.If it were mine, I might brighten it just a bit...

Cool bird, nice setting. Perhaps could benefit from a bit more sharpening

Thanks for the comments. I debated last night about the darker grey background versus a brighter white one and actually had a curves adjustment layer on the image to bright up the bird, but masked off the background. Here's another version with a brighter background and some added canvas at the top. Thank you for your feedback. This morning, I like this one better

Keith,

I like the repost better too, it helps the bird to stand out more with the lighter background. Love the snow on the needles.

I too like the repost better. I love the snowy perch. The sherbert colors are very well shown. I am still trying to get up there again and see these beautiful birds for a second time.

Stunning setting Keith. Beautiful pose and detail. I would suggest a bit more exposure comp at the time, or some brightening, looks a bit dark.

I like the extra canvas on the repost, Keith. Also, the colors of the finch seem to pop a bit more. Superb detail in both and an excellent job handling the contrast. :toast:

A Little brightening a little added canvas on top for a perfect shot IMO
